Northeast Business Park backs medieval development

12 May 2011

Northeast Business Park has backed a bid by Caboolture’s Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology to secure funding for a much-needed upgrade.

Northeast Business Park chairman Malcolm Hall-Brown said the Abbey Museum was one of Australia’s premier collections of international fine arts and antiques with collections spanning the last 500,000 years.

“The Abbey Museum is a significant cultural centre in south-east Queensland and attracts thousands of visitors annually,” Mr Hall-Brown said.

“The proposed upgrade is a regionally significant and exciting development for a vibrant cultural centre that receives no funding from any level of government.”

The museum’s plans include building an art gallery, temporary display and new social infrastructure such as retail and cafĂ© areas.

Mr Hall-Brown believes an upgrade will strengthen the museum’s regional productivity and further cement it as important tourist attraction.
