Members of the local community have regularly expressed their excitement at being able to access the facilities that North Harbour will bring to the community without having to travel outside the region. From a championship golf course to walking tracks to new restaurant precincts and much more, the community will gain lifestyle benefits in addition to new employment opportunities and enhanced local infrastructure.

Features

With extensive areas of publicly accessible open space and parklands, North Harbour is a special place where the local and regional community can meet and share the natural water courses, bushland and parklands of the Caboolture River. Strong emphasis is placed on the restoration and management of the ecological and historic values of the site while providing a wide variety of new recreational opportunities for the community. Best practice standards for open space have been incorporated, including water sensitive urban design, crime prevention through environmental design, and community accessibility principles, incorporating approximately 400ha of active and passive recreational areas and environmental buffer zones. Community facilities include:

  • 18 hole championship golf course
  • Sports fields and clubhouse – a district level sports and recreation node to accommodate active and organised sporting activities
  • Heritage park and playground – a riverfront recreational and sculpture park themed around the site’s rich history
  • Riverside park – located between the marina and the river and providing a setting for activities such as picnics, fishing and walking
  • Promenades and gardens – extensive waterside promenades, pocket parks, playgrounds, gathering spaces, picnic spaces, and formalised gardens
  • Cycle and walking track network – providing recreational opportunities linking key community destinations and attractions
  • Canoe trails – providing water based access and landings to key public open spaces
  • Community recreational club – including a pool, gym and other health facilities
