Planning court update

22 June 2010

The battle over planning approval for Northeast Business Park’s marina proposal was scheduled for a two day hearing in the Planning and Environment Court in July.

However as a result of Moreton Bay Regional Council raising a number of preliminary issues the ultimate hearing of the Northeast Business Park appeal has been delayed.

It is expected that the preliminary issues regarding the nature of the application will be determined in August and following this the substantive issues in the appeal to be determined by the end of the year.

Northeast Business Park Pty Ltd is appealing Moreton Bay Regional Council’s refusal to approve the project in full, contrary to the recommendation of the Queensland Coordinator-General.

Council approved part of the project but not the marina precinct, which NEBP argues is vital element of the master plan for the project.
