Moreton Bay Regional Council surveys for growth 12 May 2011 Moreton Bay Regional Council is asking local business owners to complete an on-line survey about the region’s economic growth potential. Northeast Business Park CEO Jeff Smith urged the development’s supporters to participate in the survey aimed at obtaining business data. Participants are asked to provide anonymous information about Caboolture’s growth, employment and local markets. Mr Smith said the survey was an appropriate platform for business owners to emphasise Northeast Business Park’s long-term economic benefits to Moreton Bay. “Northeast Business Park will generate 13,600 full time positions, another 1,500 during construction and eventually house over 5,500 residents if completed in full,” he said. “Moreton Bay Regional Council is investing significant resources into this market research exercise to identify target growth areas, yet refuses to approve this huge economic booster to the area “We have a huge shortage of marina berths in Brisbane and the marina development would boost the industry and broaden the local economic base.” Survey partner Neil Hoddinett from Regional Development Australia said broad data existed but a more detailed snapshot of local business conditions was needed. “By drilling down into local business data, we can tailor make programs to promote the region and make the best use of existing infrastructure, such as ports, rail, road and broadband,” Mr Hoddinett said. “That’s why the survey will also be asking owners for the initiatives they think will help drive the region’s full economic potential.” Share your thoughts at www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au. - Ends-
