MEDIA RELEASE
Revegetation program set to start 12 May 2011 An extensive native seed collection program is nearing completion at Northeast Business Park with CREEC and Greening Australia about to embark on the revegetation of 4.3 hectares of the Northeast Business Park site.
The revegetation is a trial in preparation for a much larger program that will ultimately see the revegetation of a large portion of the site’s 420 hectares of open space.
Greening Australia is presently reviewing the range of seed collected and identifying if more needs to be sourced, prior to the Caboolture Regional Environmental and Education Centre (CREEC) beginning propagation.
Consultant Ralf Regeer said approximately 150 species of varying sizes have been identified as part of the strategy.
“Northeast Business Park has gone the extra mile in the preliminary re-vegetation works addressing nine kilometres along the Caboolture River, which is above and beyond standard requirements,” Mr Regeer said.
“We’re now preparing a major revegetation strategy to be rolled out at the proposed development’s completion.”
The Greening Australia strategy will ensure vegetation native to the site is re-planted following proposed construction. - Ends-
